Back to the Path

As we’ve done for the past few weeks, we headed out to walk the bike path yesterday. This week we went to town and headed east over the bridge. This is the part of the path that eventually turns north and eventually ends up in Yellow Springs. One again we had nice river views at different points. We also passed a big buckeye tree. I have personally never seen a Buckeye tree. Although, of course from living so long in Columbus we know what a buckeye leaf and buckeyes look like. Since leaves are starting to fall there were buckeye “pods” and loose buckeyes all over. We gathered about a dozen and they are now in a mason jar on the kitchen table. Buckeyes are lucky rights? It has barely rained here in the past month, but we also passed two areas where there would most certainly be waterfalls if the river was higher. We also found a family of black squirrels. We saw one, which was odd, but then we kept seeing them over what was perhaps a 50 yard segment of the pash. I think I have only seen a black squirrel maybe twice in my life. That was also in Columbus at the old office. S said he had never seen one. Apparently they are more prevalent in areas north of the Great Lakes like Ontario and Michigan. According to Wikipedia, South of the great lakes, they are much more rare.

The Bengals have started 0-2. They looked pretty good yesterday, but they were playing another really good team who simply played a little better. Joey B is a little banged up. As long as he’s not hurt, I think they’ll bounce back. The Reds are somehow still in the playoff hunt with a few weeks to go. They have had terrible luck with injuries over the latter half of the season. Sometimes it’s like watching the movie “Major Leagues” when you look at who’s pitching. “Who’s this fucking guy?”. About a week ago, most of the pitching staff had Covid (Yes, that is still a thing) and starting pitchers just keep getting hurt. No matter what happens, this team has been a joy to watch. They are a bunch of guys that are 21-25 years old so hopefully that means they will be even better next year.

The weather has been beautiful. It’s like we’re at that “almost fall” point where the highs are 75-80, but it’s cool in the morning and at night so you leave the windows open. Love it! I hate that the days are getting shorter. I already miss the sun coming up at 6.
