Since my last post, we have hosted the Dubs and Mom for Easter. It was a fun day. Sadly my main course of brisket was mediocre. I blame the cut of meet more than the chef, but it was nothing special. That said, it needed more time in the over to get uber tender. The brisket I normally buy kept getting scratched from my grocery delivery so I had to go out and buy another one. For some reason, this cut took much longer to cook.
What does the title of this post mean? In addition to being a song by Thin Lizzy, it always reminds me of baseball. The Reds are back and it’s baseball time. They are currently 8-6 and just as electric as last year. Elly already has two 450+ foot homeruns plus one inside the park homerun. I heard an announcer say this week, “if you were playing a video game, Elly De La Cruz would be a cheat code”. Perfect description! I’m sad that he’ll end up being a Yankee or Dodger because a team like the Reds will never be able to pay him long term. And that my friends is one reason why professional baseball will never be as good as football.
While the Dubs were here for Easter, we walked over to the lot to show them where our new house would be. It had rained earlier in the week, and we all got muddy, but it was fun. We’ll be breaking ground in about two weeks. I have started packing up some things because I am crazy and it’s just what I do. Don’t judge! I like a plan! Yesterday I packed china. So useless. I would get rid of it if I could, but I hate to see things like that in a landfill. I bet right now JDub has some set of china in the storage shed, and I know GG has a set of of china in her dining room, which I do not recall every having eaten off of in my life. I will say this. GG’s china is really pretty. Unlike mine which is trimmed in pink flowers. Seriously? I also have a bajillion glasses and mugs. It’s so hard to get rid of those things. They have zero sentimental value, but no one wants them. I don’t think you can even give them away.
Lots to do. It’s a good thing it’s only 4 blocks.
XOXO
