Yesterday S & I celebrated our 34th wedding anniversary. We also participated in the Haunted Wine Run which was a 5K that happened mere blocks from our house.

The 5K was awesome because we could have walked to it if we chose and because the majority of it took place on the bike path along the river so it was very scenic. The 5K was not awesome because to get to the bike path you had to go about 1/4 mile through a corn field and it had rained for probably 10 hours straight overnight. Needless to say, it was an uneven, squishy start and finish to the race that was not made for jogging. Anyone that had really nice, white running shoes was probably pissed. The other slight negative was that the bike path is not really wide enough to accommodate all of those people at one so it was difficult to pass people. If you were a person thinking about trying to achieve a personal best time – no chance. Those are just small nits. We will definitely do it again next year because it was so close to home and for a good charity.

Thirty-four years of marriage. That’s pretty solid. Secret to success? I think it’s that we have always been friends. S is my best friend and I am his. We have a lot in common, but enough differences that together we are better. I don’t think anyone else would put up with either one of us.

S ordered us a bunch of snacks from Nuts.com for our anniversary. So we spent the evening sampling those. Sounds lame, but it was delicious.
