That’s My Philosophy

Remember the movie My Blue Heaven with Steve Martin? So many great quotes. At one point he is on a flight to New York and he tips the flight attendant. He explains to co-star Rick Moranis about how he likes to “overtip”. That’s my philosophy!

Therefore I decided to dedicate this post to my life tips.

  1. Listen to music. Keep listening. Listen to old music. Find new music. Keep an open mind. Find joyful music and love it.
  2. Take care of your skin. Moisturize. Take special care of your face, including your neck, but don’t neglect you arms, legs, elbows, knees etc.
  3. Read something. Books are important. If you absolutely cannot commit to a book, read song lyrics, read a poem, read a short story or a graphic novel. Something.
  4. Stay active. I spent several years being very inactive. Don’t do that.
  5. Set goals. It doesn’t matter what they are. They could be financial goals, fitness goals, reading goals or a goal to learn something new.
  6. Tell the people you love that you love them.
  7. Get a good mattress and a good pillow. It’s an important investment. A good night’s sleep is critical.
  8. Go outside. Walk, run, garden, sit whatever. Enjoy the outdoors. I’m not saying you need to start camping. Just go outside.
  9. Make your bed every day. This might sound lame, but it is the truth. It is the easiest way in the world to start your day off by accomplishing something.
  10. Don’t overdo it with social media. 2016 gave us the phrase “Fake News”. Well most social media is as fake as it gets. Most people’s social media is nothing but kitten’s, rainbows and filtered photos. Comments on forums, like those you see after a news story, are generally a representation of the worst of humanity or trolls trying to force a reaction by posting things.
  11. Teach your kids to cook the basics, how to do laundry and how to manage their money.
  12. Marry your best friend.
